Sustainable Food

We invest in

Feeding the future

Feeding a growing global population while protecting our planet’s resources is one of the great challenges and opportunities of our time. Today, we waste a third of all food produced, while demand shifts toward more carbon-intensive diets, putting pressure on land, water, and biodiversity.

But innovation is reshaping the future of food. A wave of companies is rising to meet these challenges, offering sustainable solutions across areas such as aquaculture, alternative proteins, next-generation agriculture, and food waste reduction. As global demand for sustainable food accelerates, these companies are not just helping the planet — they are opening compelling opportunities for growth and investment.

What are the challenges

Emissions

Agriculture contributes about 34% of global greenhouse gas emissions, making it a top climate threat. Emissions come from livestock, fertilizers, deforestation, and energy use across the supply chain. Reducing them is complex due to fragmented systems and limited incentives

Growing population

Feeding nearly 10 billion people by 2050 will require 55–56% more calories than in 2010. Globally, we are seeing a shift toward more emission-intensive foods, such as animal-based proteins. Without innovation, food insecurity and environmental collapse will intensify

Change of consumption patterns

Current diets are often high on emissions and low in nutritional value

Food waste

Roughly 30% of food is lost or wasted globally, wasting land, water, and energy. Most waste occurs post-harvest or at the consumer level, especially in developed markets. This inefficiency undermines sustainability and exacerbates food insecurity

What are the solutions

Sustainable aquaculture

Aquaculture plays a critical role in feeding a growing population with a lower environmental impact compared to traditional livestock. Yet, as a young industry, it also has its challenges related to sustainability and ecosystem impact.

Alternative proteins

The shift toward sustainable diets is accelerating demand for lower-carbon and alternative proteins. We invest in companies supporting plant-based, fermentation-derived, and cultivated protein solutions that lower environmental impacts and offer scalable growth potential.

Next-generation agriculture

To sustainably feed a larger global population, farming must become more efficient, resilient, and climate-smart. We support innovations that drive lower emissions, better resource use, and improved productivity.

Food waste reduction

~1/3 of food produced globally is wasted. We target solutions and business models that prevent, reduce, or redistribute food waste across the value chain – from production to consumption.
